What HeatShield does

HeatShield pairs live jobsite heat monitoring with the recordkeeping that compliance requires. Core capabilities include:

  • Automated WBGT (wet bulb globe temperature) monitoring using live weather data for each jobsite
  • Real-time risk alerts: supervisors receive in-app notifications as conditions change and send SMS alerts to their crews directly from the platform
  • Per-worker acclimatization tracking based on NIOSH guidance, covering both new hires and workers returning after time away
  • Audit-ready compliance documentation and recordkeeping
  • Crew heat safety training and certification
  • Indoor sensor API integration for fixed worksites, available on the Pro plan

Who it is for

HeatShield is built for construction, roofing, transportation, landscaping, and agriculture employers, along with any operation that puts crews to work in the heat, indoors or out. Supervisors run monitoring and alerts from one place, and workers receive the alerts and instructions they need on their own phones.

Heat compliance, state by state

There is no federal OSHA heat standard. Occupational heat rules are set at the state level, and only five states currently regulate workplace heat: California, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, and Minnesota. HeatShield supports the requirements in each of these states, including outdoor and indoor provisions where they differ.

For employers and worker categories not covered by a state rule, HeatShield documents prevention measures against the OSHA General Duty Clause, which requires employers to provide a workplace free from recognized hazards. That gives every employer a defensible compliance record, whether or not their state has a specific heat regulation on the books.
